PizzaExpress: Bankside
Larking around by the river

With a brief to make the most of the fabulous views of the Thames and St Paul's it is no wonder that our vision for the refurbishment of PizzaExpress Bankside took direct inspiration from it's setting.

A welcoming entrance was created with curved banquette seating. Large scale letters in sandblasted oak are linked to signage on the Quayside.

In fact vistors and locals alike will always be sure of their locality, with a striking 16m wide graphic representation of the restaurant's position on the Thames.

Objects found washed up on the banks are the subject of large framed photographs, which are hung against monochrome PizzaExpress stripes. They also provide the stimulus for the bespoke "mudlarking" wallpaper.

The two week refurbishment has had a positive impact all round. Our client is happy, restaurant staff have renewed enthusiasm and an increase in trade suggests that customers are enjoying the food as well as the stunning view.
