A VIBRANT RESTAURANT & COCKTAIL BAR SHORTLISTED FOR A 2020 RESTAURANT & BAR DESIGN AWARD
This was an existing PizzaExpress unit in Langham Place; a prominent bustling location around the corner from Oxford Street in London. This restaurant was one of the first to showcase the new PizzaExpress branding and it needed a complete up-lift with a new focal bar and lounge area. It has been shortlisted for a 2020 Restaurant & Bar Design Award.
As this was a significant project for the client, we were asked to create 360° panoramic visuals to help all parties involved visualise the space.
This exciting project had the budget for a full size standalone bar – a destination in its own right. We positioned the bar near the shopfront as to be viewed from the busy street outside and arranged lounge seating adjacent. Antique bronze mirrors, warm concealed lighting and a curved timber slatted screen all played a part in highlighting the bar, making it a real focus point.
The new centrally located open kitchen incorporated a large sit-up counter and the pizza oven was clad in striking penny mosaic tiles. Its focus was reinforced through the use of acoustic ceiling rafts and warm lighting that radiated from the oven.
We used re-claimed finishes throughout such as the columns which were exposed to their original concrete form. Lots of bespoke features were incorporated into our design, such as the wallpaper and decorative lighting; both designed in-house by us.
Outside, we designed bespoke timber slatted planter screens to enclose the lounge type furniture from the street. The new PizzaExpress signage and warm lighting really helped tie everything together and create an inviting glow.
