THE PERFECT CASUAL DINING SETTING; PLAYFUL FURNISHINGS PAIRED WITH BOLD MATERIALS TO CREATE A LIVELY ATMOSPHERE

With a featureless internal shell and key competitors close by, we were briefed by the client to ensure that this restaurant in Loughborough stood out. Situated in the new cinema complex, it was important that this restaurant would appeal to local residents as well as Loughborough’s large student population.

The building’s former use as an auction house provided an exciting starting point for the restaurant’s design. An interesting palette of materials, bold colour and eye-catching festoon lighting and vibrant neon lights ensured the space caught the eye of passing diners.

We took the opportunity to split levels and add features such as the wall panelling. This created a varied and inviting space that would appeal to new and returning customers alike.

With a central position, the open kitchen takes centre stage and is strengthened by the design of the bespoke mesh shutters that frame the opening and the striking combination of marble, oak and copper cladding to the counter front. Some design features, such as the patterned tiled floor, take direct reference from original architectural details.

We incorporated an eclectic mix of framed graphical prints, photos and playful oil paintings depicting imaginary auction lots; all produced in-house.

Overall, we have achieved a fresh and quirky feel with its eclectic mix of furniture and minty colour palette that was well received by the client and customers alike.
